ADD-ONS: Individual non-permanenant hairpieces which are meant to be added on, or attached to, your own hair to add length, volume, or texture. Temporary attachment methods may be barrette clips, banana clips, wing combs, butterfly clips, or small comb-clips.
ALOPECIA- Loss of hair (especially on the head) due to heredity, hormonal imbalance, certain diseases or chemotherapy for cancer patients.

BANANA COMB- A contoured flexible comb clip made of polystyrene plastic attached with a small swivel joint.
BANGS- The shorter hair on a style which covers the forehead from the hairline to the eyebrows.
CAPLESS- The cap construction of a machine made wig. Made with wefts of hair as opposed to solid base material.
CRANIAL PROSTHESIS: Another name for a wig, but is a term generally used as a description for high-quality, hand-tied, pre-designed and custom units made for individuals who have extensive or total hair loss. A cranial prosthesis can be made from a combination of fabrics, mesh, silk, silicone, or polyurethane, which are used to re-create natural hair growth patterns, and give the illusion of hair growing out of a scalp. All materials used in the prosthesis are designed to provide maximum comfort and natural appearance.
CUTICLE- The cuticle is the outer layer of the hair folicle. Human hair has 3 layers: a cuticle (outer layer), cortex (middle layer), and a medulla (center of hair shaft).

DARTS- Dart like alteration areas that are sewn into wig construction (Patented by Look of Love International) that can be cut out to accommodate smaller than average head sizes.
DEMI-WIG: (Also 3/4 wig) A partial hairpiece which covers most of the hair, and which allows you to wear your front hair pulled out over the cap and mixed with the wig hair to create length and/or fullness in the style.
DETANGLER: A spray-on, leave-in product which is used to smooth the hair or fiber in a wig, facilitating the removal of tangles in the hair after washing.

ELASTIC LOOP- A flexible loop attached to a braid or switch hair piece that is meant to attach to your own ponytail.
EUROPEAN-LIKE - The texture of our human hair from India that resembles the soft texture and shape of European hair, as opposed to hair from China that is coarse.

FALL: A 3/4 Demi wig or hairpiece that attaches with a series of flex combs. Made to be worn for those that want longer hair in the back, while blending their own hair in from the front. May also be worn with a scarf or headband to hide the wearer’s own hair.
FILLER: A partial hairpiece that adds just that extra amount of hair where added volume or length is desired.
FLAT IRON: A hot implement that can only be used on human hair that straightens the hair or creates wisps.
FROSTED COLOR: This is a color effect which usually uses two contrasting colors in a 50%-50% equally-distributed proportion throughout the wig to create a soft, blended effect. The pattern is usually a checkerboard or alternating colored wefts.

HAIR EXTENSIONS: Generally refered to as any hairpiece, wefts of hair or add-ons the create the illusion of having longer, fuller hair.
HAIR INTEGRATION: Hairpieces that are intended for those with fine thin hair of their own. The blend seemlessly in with wearer's own hair with or without pull-through bases. Used to create a fuller style or add length. See Hair-B-Tweenz collection.
HAIRPIECE: A small to medium coverage unit of hair designed to cover or blend thinning hair.
HAND-TIED, HANDMADE: Hand tying is a tedious process of manually knotting individual hairs onto wefts or base material. This process allows for more natural behavior of hair when styling and creates a more natural scalp.
HONEYCOMB WIG or HAIRPIECE: This is a full-head or partial hairpiece which has an open cap design with diamond-shaped spaces through which your own hair can be pulled to create more fullness.

MONOFILAMENT SILK TOP --Fine flesh-colored nylon mesh with hairs individually hand-tied into it. May be parted anywhere on the top. Very suitable for persons with extensive hair loss, as color of scalp may show through.
MULTI-DIRECTIONAL: The process of hand knotting individual hairs to wefted base material that allows the hair to flow in any direction. This crafted manufacturing technique is only found in higher quality human hair wigs and hairpieces.
